One concerned resident, Mary Laymon, 55, said she and her husband, Greg York, 57, are trying to help the community by providing ministry and food on their property, Tikkun Farms.<\/span><\/p>\n

MOUNT\u00a0HEALTHY\u00a0\u2014 It\u2019s odd hearing people call my childhood neighborhood a food desert. I did not grow up well off in the Compton Groves community of townhomes and apartments in Mount\u00a0Healthy, a city of roughly 6,700 in the Greater Cincinnati area.<\/p>\n

HAMILTON COUNTY<\/strong> RECYCLING AND SOLID WASTE DISTRICT<\/span><\/p>\n

Tikkun Farm\u00a0is a non-profit with the mission of healing people, repairing community, and restoring creation. This mission is carried out in a number of ways – providing meals and cooking skills for the community, being a home for rescued farm animals, and creating compost to turn back into the land, just to name a few. It is for these reasons and more that they were named our 2020 Save the Food Award Winner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
